We normally do not like to do this via facebook but since our customer facing email server and our exchange server is down this will have to do. We got a notification from out monitoring system that one of our servers (SmarterMail) went down. We got to our data center soon after 7 AM and after working with a few vendors it seems like our main storage array has failed. We are working with all of our vendors to try to get a replacement setup asap. I will hope to give everyone an update as soon as i know.
We are sorry about about this outage and are doing everything in our power to get it backup.

We have secured both the backups and the storage node we are needing to get Email services backup. We are expecting to being the rebuild process some time later today. We are going to do everything we can to get the system backup and running, but right now we are looking at a physical hardware failure on our 12 bay storage array. We will update everyone as soon as we know more.

We have gotten the new storage node from our storage vendors. We have setup the nessary VM systems to allow up to recover the backuped data and are setting up the SmarterMail system. We would expect the restore to be done and the system backup very soon.

We are currently restoring the email data. We expect it to be back in around 1 hour. After the system is up any email that is stored in our Spam Filter Queue, will being to flow to your mailboxs. You should not have to setup anything because everything should be the same. We are really sorry this happened. For around 3 months our storage array started to act up and after speaking to our previous storage vendor they did not have any concern. However, from here on, that will not be the case at all. You all can expect a full press release about this issue and how we are going to correct it in the future to make sure this never happens again.

The Smartermail system has been running fine for some time. If you think you have some lost messages please just let us know. Our spam filter always saves a copy so if you think something is missing we can see about releasing it.

I hope everyone survived the employment tax preparation period. As many of you have noticed, we have changed over the look and feel of our billing and invoicing system. I would personally like to thank Steve Schneider, our VP of Sales and Marketing for all of the hard work and dedication that he put into this update.
I would also like to note that we have been advised by our new tax accountant that some of the services that we weren’t charging sales tax for should be considered taxable. Some of these services include off-site backup, web hosting, spam filtration and Small Business One Care. Like always, registered 501C3’s that provide the proper documentation will be exempted from sales tax on these services.
